As is trying to get information out those who appear to be responsible for,
not using the rules to cover the failure of an AGM, then allowing the AFFS
to go into 'technical dormancy', whilst not bothering to inform the
membership, and continuing to accept payment by Direct Debit and take
money by Standing order with out asking the bank to return it and notify
the member who was making that payment of the reason for its refund. An
EGM, or Meeting to wind up the AFFS, the remedy provided by Rule 15 would
have closed this matter by the end of 2005!
"15. DISSOLUTION
If the Committee by a simple majority decide at any time that on the
ground of expense or otherwise it is necessary or advisable to
dissolve the Association, it shall call a meeting of all members of
the Association who have the power to vote, of which meeting not less
than 21 days' notice (stating the terms of the Resolution to be
proposed thereat) shall be given. If such decision shall be confirmed
by a two-thirds majority of those present and voting at such meeting
the Committee shall have power to realise any assets held by or on
behalf of the Association. Any assets remaining after the satisfaction
of any proper debts and liabilities shall be given or transferred to
such other charitable institution or institutions having objects
similar to the objects of the Association as the Committee may
determine."
And all you have to offer is the helpful line,
> Arguing with John is like wrestling a pig in the mud.
As the Committee have, from what some have to say, resigned both from the
Committee and the AFFS, and others will not answer the question, "Are you
still a paid up member? The only people who are able to do anything would
appear to be the surviving members, in concert with the signatories to the
bank account, those who have made themselves known have proved more than
happy to provide information and help. it would appear that the answer is
simple and lies in the hands of the current members. It might prove more
useful were all those who seem to have a desire to make comments such
as, " Arguing with John is like wrestling a pig in the mud" and " you can
ask these questions until the heat death of the universe", would do better
to devoting their efforts to setting up a new body, in order that the
current funds of the AFFS can be transferred to it. Although I have to say
that upon winding up the AFFS it might be an indication of good will were
the subscriptions of those who are still members be refunded for the
period starting with the date of the failed AGM to the present. I may be
inclined to donate mine. Any incoming Officer or Committee member would
also do well to acquaint themselves with the attendant responsibilities
and duties.
