OK fixed that.

I have "auto" as the filesystem option.

When I mount the disk I can now read it, but I get:
mount: block device /dev/hdc is write-protected, mounting read-only
brw-rw----  1 root disk 22, 0 Jun 30  2003 /dev/hdc

Is there a setting on the disk that makes it mount read only?  If so how 
can I change that?

groups: root bin daemon sys adm disk wheel fax cdrom floppy tape audio 
video smmsp samba mysql postgresql ftp www ups
