I have access to a DV camera with firewire, for the purposes of fetching the
DV tapes to DVD.

mencoder doesn't create dvd-compatible mpeg2, but I have a script, remplexing
them so can create dvd-compatible mpeg2, but I digress...

indeed. I have access to a decent amount of storage, however :-)

I already have this and don't mind dedicating the machine to doing the
transcode, and have started messing about with DVD-menus too :-) I don't
mind doing this, and can even aquire printable DVDs and print them*, but I
might not get to the conference, so would need someone to post the DV tapes
to me to transfer them to DVDs.

* I would donate the blank DVDs but at the moment cannot afford to purchase
them unless reimbursed, sorry. The cost of posting to each person who wants
a copy I could probably manage. We'd need to cover the cost of the media,
but I don't mind doing occational runs. I can also upload an appropriate
format avi(xvid-ogg?)/mpeg-1 file to somewhere appropriate so people can
download it.

So there, I've made my offer of time to the cause :-)
