lucky i only bought a 10-pack DVD+R instead of the 50-pack spindle ... 
most of them have already become coasters though :)

okay, trying dvd-r media ... so far so good ... looks like it's burning 
at almost 8.0x

but the drive buffer size problem still persists ... although the buffer 
usage seems to be quite okay now with a fairly stable >90% ... still, 
i'd like to know that the entire 2MB drive buffer is being used ...
