Huh? The entire purpose of contains is that they are light and cheap. 
But they are rarely done that way. They are usually full blown Debian or Fedora systems with tons of stuff completely irrelevent to containers. For example, go binaries are statically linked, and if the application is designed right could go into a container with no other files.
