I think we've had those discussion on Reddit many times before already, 
and some of it comes down to doing the work (e.g. setting up GitLab in a 
way to keep both the wolf and the sheep happy, which is a lot of work, 
in this case).

Maybe some more, more specific questions could lead to new insights, though.
