It would be helpful to state exactly what release of what Linux
distribution you are using, when making this kind of request.

I think there must be some confusion somewhere about this.

For Ubuntu, the Bibledit 4.0-1 packages have been in the Crosswire
Stable Packages PPA since January... and as far as I know 4.1 is not
released yet, so the "very newest version" (the very newest *released*
version!) is 4.0. You can use this PPA by adding

  ppa:pkgcrosswire/ppa

to your system's Software Sources.

For Debian, official 4.0-1 packages are there for both Debian
experimental and for Squeeze, see http://packages.debian.org/bibledit to
confirm this.

If the above information does not help, please let me know in more
detail exactly what you are trying to do, on which release of Debian or
Ubuntu, and what specifically happens when you try to use the existing
Bibledit 4.0-1 packages mentioned above, and I'll happily work with you
to solve the issue.

Kim did recently point out an issue with the bibledit 4.0-1~lucid2
packages (on Ubuntu Lucid only). I uploaded a 4.0-2~lucid1 fix in about
three hours, and she subsequently reported that the updated version in
the Crosswire Developer Preview PPA works for her, so I hope I'll get
fixed packages for Lucid into the Crosswire Stable Packages PPA soon.
