Hello Bibleditors,
Looking into the future, development efforts are going to be
concentrated on a new Bibledit written in PHP, intended for running on
the web either on the internet or your local area network or your local
computer.
This way it becomes cross-platform much easier than it would be now.
Apart from that a more important reason for this is that the whole world
is moving to the web.
The current bibledit, that is, the desktop application, is likely to
remain in existence for a good while to come. It is powerful, and the
new, web-based bibledit will not for a long time equal or surpass its
capabilities.
The new, web based bibledit, is going to be called "bibledit". But how
shall we call the current bibledit? Opinions on this are invited. It
could be called "bibledit-legacy", which would show the path it would go
after some time, but right now since it has so much power, it is not
going to be a legacy very soon. It could be called "bibledit-gtk", but
that sounds technical since some people might wonder that -gtk means. Or
do we call it "bibledit-desktop"? However, the new bibledit for the web
runs on your desktop too, be it through a browser. Any suggestions?
Teus.
