This  is how the  Unicode standard  expects implementations  to behave
when it comes to zw[n]j.

I don't understand. Are you saying all the applications which support
ZW[N]J in the middle of a word are incorrect implementations? If we
can have Latin and control characters in Malayalam why can't we have
ZW[N]J? Is it because only Malayalam needs it? I think there are other
languages like Persian depending on it.


Since the chillus are on the way  to be encoded, why dont we wait till
the proper standards come out?


I don't think that is the right way, even if chillus get encoded we
need to support backward compatibility.

And it  is precisely  due to  the zw[n]j problem  that I  have stopped
working on Malayalam l10n. In fact,  I had got an elementary word list
to complie,  but I conciously omitted  all words with  zw[n]j from the
list, and it worked.

If there could be a way to allow ZW[N]J in Malayalam this issue can be
solved. Lets think about upcoming issues when that comes.
