Yes, but I think email does not always come across the way the sender
intented.  I think most people have posted at least one message to a
list in their life that came across the wrong way.

Document Document Document ... and put them in a easy to find place.

There are docs on this already on phpgroupware.org in the developer
section, yes they are a bit dated, but they give a general idea.
