Forgot to say - authors of some files published there specifically claim that 
their files do not use Matlab toolboxes.

Here is a file set which looks interesting to me: 
http://www.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/fileexchange/13812-splinefit . I am not 
sure about toolboxes - quick look doesn't show any.
