Yes, there is. The greatest thing with octave (and I'm using it now for way
over 10 years) is that it's open and therefore transparent, and of course
nobody can take it away then.
But it is only useful if the average user does not have to reinvent the
wheel all the time, and can rely on other people's code. That's why we want
to be compatible with matlab. No?
