Oh you're referring to "the Author/Maitainer".  Right that stays.  Indeed
names don't vanish: but the "2020 Copyright John Doe" is now
"2020 Copyright the Free Software Foundation" and some people
don't like that.

Also, it is not a rumor at all, let me be very clear.  It is my personal
conjecture, nothing more.
