This should be installed on my system.
But i am a noob in using this makefile things. ;-)
There are so many different variants out there ...

../trunk/avrdude$ autoconf
configure.ac:33: error: possibly undefined macro: AM_INIT_AUTOMAKE
      If this token and others are legitimate, please use m4_pattern_allow.
      See the Autoconf documentation.
configure.ac:75: error: possibly undefined macro: AM_PROG_CC_C_O


The only "official" HowTo is this one:
http://www.nongnu.org/avrdude/user-manual/avrdude_18.html#Unix

But it only describes what to do with a downloaded package.
It would be very helpful when it is updated.

Alternative it would be helpful to update the README in the main project folder.
Normally i find there a short descripton with some steps what to do for noob 
users.
