I use fldigi with tlf using a FT-950 set to PKT-U. fldigi expects USB in 
all of it's modems. I have this set in the logcfg.dat

RTTYMODE
GMFSK=/home/ed/gMFSK.log
DIGIMODEM=/home/ed/gmfsk_autofile

Never had a problem.
