The "definitive" patch for 0.10.0 might be exactly that.

But the huge difference is that instead of having the thing only fixed
on your computer, it'd be fixed for everybody for all applications using
the KEY command.

So is the quick&dirty patch fixing it?

Ideally, yes. But at the very least they should both do something
useful, even if the same.
