This, I think, is one of the most important aspects of OLL, which has been
mentioned in the past but not explicitly in this thread: it could be a [the?]
sandbox for features that might eventually be merged into the official
codebase. For example, there is a current thread about possibly tidying up
\shapeII (renamed as \reshape?) and merging it into the main codebase.
Certainly, OLL-as-sandbox could be a more gentle area for "Lily-dippers" like
me to get our feet wet, improve our code chops, get [informal] mentoring, and
eventually become regular contributors in the Big Box.
