As long as John plans to be available (i.e. not buried in a thesis for the  
next month like me), I think there's no harm in moving forward with this.   
Issue 2656 is not going to be fixed any time soon, so unless David wants to  
ignore windows (since it's a non-free platform) and have 2.16 right  
now-ish, there should be plenty of time to have a bunch of releases before  
2.16.
