It just occurred to me you are using raid. I do not use raid myself but raid conf (mdam.conf) may have 'preset' your resolution.
To test safely, boot without raid and without invoking raid conf changing this line... linux16 /vmlinuz-4.0.4-303.fc22.x86_64 root=UUID=f9576b28-3d0b-425a-9a4b-d371df2216cc ro rd.md=0 rd.md.conf=0
Of course set gfxmode and payload to resolution.
