This is strange, it should use lily-ps-defs.tex instead. 
This choice is done in lilyponddefs.tex. You don't use 
the option pdftex to graphicx, do you?

If you don't manage to track down the problem, run ly2dvi with 
the flag -k and send me a copy of the orchestscore_ly*.log
file.
