Hello -
following the posts by Diego and Sebastian (two long-term members of
this
list) let me summarise, for the benefit of the latest subscribers, the policy
we had agreed some time ago:
a) gomp-discuss is the place for preliminary discussion about the gomp project
before it gets a real start. After that, discussion will go to the main gcc
list and patches to the gcc-patch list.
b) the repository of the project is the place in which people that do not have
signed yet a copyright transfer form with GNU can submit code. However, this
code is intended to be used only for discussion: before we can accept it, we
need the author to conform with the FSF requirements about code acceptance
c) libgomp for the moment are hosted on savannah. At some point (when the
project is more mature) they will be part of gcc itself
To sum up: gomp is (or better, will be) part of gcc, we need to make it clear
and shout it lauder with the other people in the gcc community in order for
them to take us on board. Last time we brought the subject into the main list
people was mostly careless or against gomp. For this reason, we decided to
work from the inside, opening a branch and submitting patches according to
the project policy. Maybe it is time we implement what we have agreed. Of
course we can still use this list until a wider community support is
gathered,
Cheers
Biagio
