Agreed.  GNU/Linux it is, then.

I would rather have people interested in freedom than people using Linux, to
be honest.  If you wish to campaign purely for Linux usage, then please make
sure you are in touch with your local LUG.

I think we need to be careful to advocate Free Software in general rather
than a few particular projects.  Yes, Linux has been important, but GNU has
been even more so and it embodies more of the freedom and less of the
"technical benefits of hacker peer review" position.

It's the same reason people should care about politics.  It's not easy and
it's not sexy, but it influences so much of what we do that it is important.
Knowing just a little about the history of computing allows you to make more
sensible decisions about the future of it, without stumbling into the same
dead-ends over and over again.  This is important.
