Yes yes, was going to reply, just was pondering on this idea...

I think the announcement page looks great and it was really an urgent and
necessary feature for Fle3. I would still suggest that some of the terms and
concepts would be reviewed and get less "blogish" and more "fleish" style.

For example, the Trackbacks is not an obvious term and in fact, I'm not
quite sure how you thought they could be used in Fle3 courses (referring to
other announcements in other courses?). As I understand, trackbacks are very
useful, for example, if you want to sustain the community and give proper
references (because blog as such is a very individualistic tool) or get a
pool of ideas (notes) around some topic (content aggregation), but I would
imagine that these are more related to the subjects discussed in the course,
not with the announcements particularly. Could a similar kind of referencing
tool be more useful in linking KB notes rather than announcements? On the
other hand, in a threaded KB discussion it could be very de-cotextualizing..
At this stage, I'd suggest to get rid of the trackbacks in the announcements
page completely. Or, if you have, please, give me a 'user story', maybe I'll
be convinced that it is needed.. :)

I also thought that the concept "category" of announcement is not very clear
in Fle3 context. As well as having the link (Announcement - Tiedotus,
ToDo-ToDo) at the titles that sorts out the announcements according to
categories. First of all, why 2 different languages, second, I think it
would be enough if you could sort them this way from the list in the bar on
the right. Maybe these could be placed higher up the page too.

The way the announcements page is now, I think it should be more integrated
with the "Course information" page in Fle3. They are really very similar (of
course, one is public, another - for members only. But maybe more of course
information (e.g. course resources) could be also visible from the public
announcements page? I guess it is somehow similar to what Teemu was
proposing in another email (adding a link to the bar on the right..)

But so far, looks really great!
Nice to see it developing!
