I am glad to know you're not arguing for them, and that I
misunderstood before.

That misunderstanding was not just random.  In a discussion about what
methods we should adopt, to say that a large group of people (whom we
would like to recruit) are accustomed to methods A, B and C is not a
big step away from advocating their use.
