In other words, the language server is almost always installed and
running on your own computer.

At the basic moral level, that is a good thing.
It means you avoid SaaSS.  It is the right way to do things.

However, if the language server is based on LLVM, by suggesting
people install it we would be working towards the replacement
of GNU packages with a non-copylefted competitor.

That isn't immoral, but it is self-defeating.
