OK, I fixed it by deleting the whole $HOME/.cache/duplicity directory
tree. I did delete one particular subdir of it previously as a first
thing I tried with your help. So it must have been my error and
deleted the wrong one, although I think I copy pasted its name from
the log to shell. If I did delete the right one, then, well, I'm not
sure what was going on there...
