This is an interesting point. Additionally the question that arises is
what extent of persistence. GNE supports the concept of collaborative
editing - does this mean that after successive generations of editing, the
final document might have no resemblance to the opriginal -in this case
it would only be the idea of the document (or subject topic) that is
persistant.
