Well, I don't care too much whether it's really the *same* GUI on all
platforms, although it makes maintenance quite a bit easier (*).  But
at least, there ought to be *some* GUI on any supported platform.

(*) If the GUI toolkit works reasonably, I can then just go ahead and
modify the GUI to my liking on a Unix machine, and assume that about
the same kind of change will automatically appear on Win32 and MacOS
X.  If there are separate GUIs, the work has to be done three times,
once for each GUI.
