`--preallocate` might be handy to check whether a file will fit on the
disk/partition. Though fragmentation is not an issue on modern filesystems
(maybe on Windows NTFS / FAT !?). As @darnir I see some non-trivial issues,
e.g. with `Content-Encoding: gzip`. In this case the server-advertised file
length is much smaller than the decompressed file (wget decompresses
on-the-fly).
