Output to file?

Hello,

A student that wants to add some features to Jovie has asked if he
could use it to create mp3 audio of his text-books or chapters of them
or something to listen to on the train or while traveling. I think it
could be a useful idea, but couldn't find a way to use
speech-dispatcher to write audio to file rather than the speakers
(pulse, alsa, libao, etc.) Is there a way to ask speech-dispatcher to
write audio to file rather than speak the text it gets? If not how
should this new functionality be added (a new output module? new api
to not use any output module at all? Any guidance would be helpful.
