spd and espeak with libsonic support

Greetings,
I am using ubuntu 12.04 and I am quite satisfied with its features. But
I am missing one thing. I am using vinux 3.1 and there is an option, to
have espeak talking really fast thanks to libsonic support. I think that
this support is already compiled into espeak 1.46.02, which ships with
ubuntu 12.04.
When I set orca to 100% rate, well... its not so fast. I can't find any
additional rate options in /etc/speech-dispatcher/modules/espeak.conf.
There are osme in espeak-eneric.conf, but I don't understand their meaning.
Can you please help me?
