each have their own management and scalability issues, but DB auth is the

because for mail and ldap there still needs to be db calls so those are exrta

LDAP and Dv allow pw changes, mail does not.  IMAP and POP3 have no built in
password change facility.  However, it is possable to make a hook into the phpgw
account managemant to have a 3rd party service make these changes.  Check out 
the
vmailmrg app in CVS for an example.
