I believe he was referring to the authority of the ailerons.  As the airspeed is low during a hand launch, less air is passing over the ailerons and so they require a much larger throw to get the same authority.  I generally don't advise going into Auto1 unless an appropriate safety altitude is achieved.  This gives you time to recover in case something is awry.  Especially while tuning the aircraft.

Hi Cedric,

If you connect a roll gyro to the Funjet, this problem goes away as the responsiveness of the gyro is very fast.

Cheers, Mark

…and don't launch a funjet in auto1 or auto2 mode. I also crashed when I tried. The responsivness of the aileron is very low due to the low speed.

I start in manual mode or better : I use a bungee.

You will be surprised how little movement you will need in auto 1 to keep the aircraft level. Configure the servo movements in manual mode using the end point adjustments in the airframe file then try flying the aircraft. Once you get satisfactory flying control then try auto 1.

You will then need to adjust the pitch and roll gains to near oscillation. If you don't get enough control in auto 1 after this then I am pretty sure you can adjust the maximum roll angle to get the desired affect. Just remember that Auto 1 controls are not the same as you expect from manual control, By pushing your aileron stick hard one direction it will cause the plane to stay in a steady bank turn and when you let go the aircraft will self level.

Sorry, I read through it and I can't figure it out.  It is very vague and does not specify what it needs to be done to increase or decrease the travel of servos or throttle.  I was supposed to do my maiden flight today, but, my funjet crashed taken off.  I took off in AUTO1 and I had very little control of the aircraft because there was not enough travel on the control surfaces.  Back to the building phase again!

Eddie,

Take a look at this page: http://paparazzi.enac.fr/wiki/Airframe_Configuration

It has recently been worked on and should answer a lot of your questions.

Hi, I have finished my aircraft and now I need to go to the field and finish tuning.  I have a question though about how to increase or decrease the ailevon travel for the aircraft.  Right now it seems that the ailevons don't move to much when I do the finger on the sensor test and also do not move symetrically.  One seems to move higher than the other.  Also, when I run an AUTO2 test, the throttle seems to slow to actually have a good take off speed.  How do you adjust this parameters in the airframe.xml code?

Thanks.

Eddie.
