Follow-up Comment #31, bug #57044 (project octave):

We could also use


: ${GNULIB_REVISION=a8e125d24942bc581fda1628a61a60b979ab7087}


so that bootstrap.conf would only set GNULIB_REVISION if it is not already
set.  Then you could use


GNULIB_REVISION= ./bootstrap --gnulib-srcdir=path/to/gnulib


to use whatever the current version is.
