My patch is to allow autoconfiscation of the w32 directory. And to work around a bug in the MinGW headers for versions <= mingw-runtime-3.0 that required d_name of the dirent sruct to have allocated memory. I also added a --enable-case-insensitive-file-system autoconfiscation switch whose default is disabled.
Your waiting for one patch to end all woes isn't going to happen easily. Please consider applying the patches I've submitted to at least allow autoconfiscation of the w32 port directory so that others have that benefit from CVS.
