I don't believe anybody that I'm aware of right now is likely to jump
on changing pedals from TextScript to TextSpanner, so I don't think
anything is likely to come from your request in the near future.  I
was merely trying to keep you from being disappointed when nobody took
up the issue.


Now I see the issue. 
I thought that overriding the function was trivial for the developer of that part, then I wrote my memo.
Your words prevent me too to analyze/hack the chain of overrides, it would be too long.
At the current state, then, I don't see at the moment any better solution than Pierre's one, having care to include a hidden pedal so to not corrupt the midi
(again: I gently ask Harm if he can add a two-words-warning to the snippet, so that other users won't have a surprise)
