MacPorts (version 2.1.2) will not install either octave-devel @3.4.3 or
fltk-devel @1.3.x-r9377 under Mountain Lion. I have created MacPorts tickets
(#35434 and #35426) for these problems, but no solutions have been forthcoming
yet.
This is definitely a Mac OSX 10.8 problem. I started a fresh MacPorts with OSX
10.8, uninstalling all my ports and then reinstalling almost all of them (168
total). The only ports I couldn't reinstall were math/octave-devel and
aqua/fltk-devel.
Fortunately I have octave 3.6.2 on my system. This was installed via HomeBrew.
The octave ports on MacPorts, octave @3.2.4 and octave-devel @3.4.3, have been
out of date for quite a while. MacPorts doesn't seem to care about keeping
Octave current, and now you (with OSX 10.8) can't get it at all.
Regards,
Vic
