Hi, You might be interested to take a look in GridSolve, which from what I have read, it is used for running software like Octave, Matlab etc in distributed environments. I am not actually sure that it has a browser interface, but it would be most probable. given its distributed nature. However I haven't really used it in order to share experience from it. One interesting survey that has such implementations is : Petcu, D. 2006. BetweenWeb and Grid-based Mathematical Services. In Proceedings of the international Multi- Conference on Computing in the Global information Technology (August 01 - 03, 2006). ICCGI. IEEE Computer Society, Washington, DC, 41. DOI= http://dx.doi.org/10.1109/ICCGI.2006.52 Best regards, George Søren Hauberg wrote: lør, 13 03 2010 kl. 14:51 -0800, skrev Sergei Steshenko:Well, you might consider paying for cheap hosting service with shell access, you don't actually even need root access - I'm building 'octave' not using root access. The point is not hosting itself, but rather just having access to a remote CPU on which you can run whatever you want, including 'octave'. Of course, I do not know how computationally intensive your 'octave' scripts are. This is also an option (one I will probably use in the end). While I have 'ssh' available on my laptop I do find browsers to be more easily available. So, it would be great to be able to check the status of a job and so forth from practically any computer (or phone these days). Octave-in-the-browser would allow you to do so. You could also reverse the situation and say somebody (not me) could be interested in offering people easy access (as in no installation or maintenance required) to Octave. They could then charge people by how much CPU power they use. Of course this is pure fantasy, but all I'm saying is that Octave-in-the-browser could be interesting.
