I teach a programing course for scientists (psychologists, biologists, 
veterinarians, etc.) at a conservatoire with a scientific branch 
(Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hannover, Germany). Most attendants 
are doctoral students and postdocs and some undergraduates.
Second, I use Octave to analyse experimental data. Colleagues also use 
the other brand.
