Thank you all,
I tried the package "semidef" today. The installation was OK,
but it did not work well. The messages are these;
octave:1> demosp

The version of my octave package is
"GNU Octave, version 2.0.14 (i386-redhat-linux-gnu)."
Now I am trying version 2.1.31.
