Not sure what Ctrl-X is doing, but anyway, try adding -mtrace after the
over -m options you have. It sounds like hdtbl is getting stuck in a
loop and the trace macros will print out what's happening which will
hopefully give you a clue what in your input is making hdtbl unhappy.
