I've just found this in groff.

    % awk '/^\.de R$/,/^\.\./' tmac/man.ultrix
    .de R
    .ft R
    .ul 0
    ..

Anyone know the history or got access to an Ultrix system to see what
the original man macros there define?  It pre-dates CVS.
