I agree with everything David Taylor said. What you want to do is
retrocomputing. The world has moved on. Use a Raspberry Pi, and a
nice GNNS hat. Small, economical, uses little power, more accurate.
I'll spare you the litany of issues with the GPS 18. But note, the GPS
18 LVC is not RS-232.
