Follow-up Comment #27, sr #110195 (project gnuastro):
I just added a new task for Gnuastro which is relatively easy to implement
(task #15567 <https://savannah.gnu.org/task/?15567>). Essentially, its just a
parsing of a standard string format and converting it to a double precision
floating point.
If anyone is interested, it can be a good way to start digging into coding of
Gnuastro ;-).
