Follow-up Comment #23, sr #110195 (project gnuastro):

To Anonymous (Comment #21), Thank you very much for your interest. The level
of C required highly depends on the operation you want to do ;-), but
generally, if you know the basic K&R C
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_C_Programming_Language> you should be able
to follow Gnuastro's code. In some parts, more modern features like threads
are also necessary, but they aren't too complex (for example, we use the
simple POSIX Threads model: `pthreads').

About the question of "Where to start", please see the previous post in
Comment #14 ;-).
