by that description, i would not consider that to be DRM, or any
sort of "restriction" - it is simply a functionality that the
software does not have - im sure that it also "restricts" the
user from using it to make coffee; simply because that feature
is missing

the DRM prohibition in the FSDG is about a feature which exists,
but is impossible to use, without running non-free software

another way to look at it is this - if the software is libre,
then restrictions are not possible; because the user can modify
or extend the program to do _whatever_ - if the software is
restricted from interacting in certain ways, with some remote
server, that server may or may not be libre; but that does not
make the local software non-free, or in conflict with the FSDG -
users of a remote services are only allowed to interact with the
service, in ways that the service operator permits; and that is
how it should be

if there is any question of copyright in this concern, it would
be the copyright of the media sent over the network - but again,
the receiver is probably not the copyright holder; and has no
rights to it, unless the copyright holder permits it explicitly

if the copyright holder does not permit free sharing, that is not
a "restriction", in the sense of DRM - DRM is only about the
software needed to access the media - just because someone
allows others to view their copyrighted media; does not imply
that anyone has permission to copy it

copyleft actually depends on that fact, and for everyone to
respect it - if people believe that they are entitled to copy
anything they see on the internet, then the GPL would fail
