Thanks, but that doesn't seem to call compact_font_caches?  Is there a
reason not to do that?

Also, any reason not to have garbage-collect call igc_on_idle?  I'm
thinking about a long Lisp processing which wants to trigger GC more
frequently than MPS does automatically.  Does that make sense?
