Doc strings in old code will be a different width from those in new
code, and more difficult to read on mobile phone displays, which were
bizarrely stated as part of the change's rationale in the commit
messages.

Its effect will become visible over time, we simply don't know what they
will be, and could all have benefited from some advance notice.
