Ahh... cool. You travel for your job?

Yes, I see your point. I like your definitions. I plan to work on it when I get some free time today (off days are *so* nice :-)

Once the many good ideas for authentication and such are implimented within this common Jabber Auth Framework, we can let the different approaches be used/rejected by the various project programmers themselves. If you are designing a DotGNU service, you have a selection of approved auth methods to choose from. Pick the best for your project, and after time we'll see which selections are working the best for everyone, and probably deprecate the remainder.

Yes, exactly. Some type of registration would be needed to use some dotGNU Services. I like Norbert's example of restricted access, and Arun hits the nail on the head there. My above quoted proposal was to use the user's Jabber/dotGNU account as the account to base subscriptions off of, instead of requiring users to set up and maintain accounts spread all over the net (a dotGNU Dev account, a FreeDevelopers.net account, a Kuro5hin account, etc.).

And to ensure that user's privacy is kept, I'd love to see (and help) the many major GNU communities offer these Jabber/dotGNU accounts. FreeDevelopers, DotGNU, GNOME, etc...

Sure. Thursday is looking like the best day for most people. Say Thursdays at 19:00 UTC/GMT?
