the .lock file is used to tell others program the GDL is used (attached) by a
program. dc_gui never keeps the lock, it just tests it to know if the GDL is
attached. DCTC only use the .lock file when you try to attach a GDL
(/GDLATTACH), it locks the file and keep the lock as long as the GDL remains
attached. If DCTC crashs, the kernel automatically release the lock and if
the system is rebooted (or has crashed), the lock was also released.
You should check with lsof if a program has kept the lock.
